Nazi leader Adolf Hitler did not kill himself in Berlin in 1945 but ended his days in Argentina, a new book has claimed.
British journalist Gerrard Williams has told Sky News he and co-author Simon Dunstan found an "overwhelming amount of evidence" to suggest Hitler died an old man in South America.
Many historians say the Nazi leader died in his Berlin bunker in 1945 - but Williams claims their research, looking at newly de-classified documents and forensic tests, challenges this.
"We didn't want to re-write history, but the evidence we've discovered about the escape of Adolf Hitler is just too overwhelming to ignore," he said.
"There is no forensic evidence for his, or Eva Braun's deaths, and the stories from the eyewitnesses to their continued survival in Argentina are compelling."

It is alleged Hitler lived in the country for 17 years, initially raising his two daughters, until his death in 1962.
The book also accuses US intelligence of being complicit in the scam in return for access to Nazi war technology.
"Stalin, Eisenhower and Hoover of the FBI all knew there was no proof of him dying in the bunker," Williams told Sky News.
"It's difficult to understand why so much of the already published material we present in the book has been ignored over the years."
He added that the book's new findings prove the "Hitler" skull fragments held by the Russians are actually that of a young woman.
Williams said he and Dunstan conducted intensive field research in Argentina, including interviews with many eyewitnesses to Hitler's presence there.
"It's only now that Argentina is once more a thriving democracy that the real stories are beginning to come out," he said.
"Even so, two of our eyewitnesses received death threats from persons unknown while working with us on this book."
The film Grey Wolf is currently in production and is expected to be released in January.

This is what I believed happened to him, his children, and several undocumented Nazi scientists:
On 2May45 U-977 (new Type VIIC U-boat) was sent on her 1st war patrol by Admiral Donitz, sailing from Kristiansand, Norway, under the command of Oberleutnant Heinz Schaffer who died in 1979 after writing a very revealing book on the U-977 and the SS's protected & hidden military technology. Likely what later would be under the US/OSS/CIA aegis project called Operation Overcast/Paperclip. I believe (through Enigma intercepts) that Donitz ordered her to retask & steam toward Holsenoy Island near Bergen Norway 10May to rendezvous with secret VIPs with children flown to that island at night. Schaffer was ordered to release 16 sailors under a ruse of concoted by Goebbels (and maybe Americans too). They took on the passengers and steamed to Argentina over next 66 days mostly submerged as they had the new top-secret Walthersnorkel device.
The USN never intercepted them but came close a few times and even invented a cover story on 19Sept from a USN/ONI interogation of the sailors (File-Op-16-2). The U-977 released her VIP cargo well south of Mar del Plata Argentina probably in Uraguay. Then she steamed north to Mar del Plata arriving on 17August surrendering to Argentine Navy with NONE of the aforementioned passegers or secret technological cargo. Schaffer was aware of some amazing 'other-worldly' military technology that the Americans and Russians were salivating for. Stuff that is STILL classified after 60+ years! Through FOIA it was learned that Hitler's children were taken north to USA and set up in new identities (i.e. under Op Paperclip). They still reside as senior citizens in Long Island NY under assumed names and the elder is a Long Island TV repairman.
Other more valuable assets were taken north to Wright Field in Dayton OH for debriefing and reclassification to avoid scrutiny from POTUS Truman's executive order NO WAR CRIMINALS would be defected for US military purposes. However, the temptation to garner new technology was overwhelming. War criminal: Wernher Von Braun was taken to Ohio, Texas, than Roswell NM (1947) to learn his valuable secrets on space flight and Hitler's mysterious Haunebu Program. Later he would spark our NASA program. Others (i.e. Kammler, Gehlen, etc.) would spark (or revamp) our other federal agencies like the CIA and others not so infamous. The Peenemunde raid on 5May by allies in where they claim to have picked up some of the NAZI scientists like Von Braun and others may have been a American ruse. They may have been spirited away to Holsenoy Island to rendezvous with the U-977 on 5May also.
That way there would be less to explain to other American authorities nosing around Operation OC/PC. This is just my opinion and just guesswork on my part.
