Azazil not an angel, he is a demon that came from powerful genie group worship.
Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers!

Satan was originally named Azazil and lived on earth . Azazil is a genie that is obedient to God . He worshiped Allah for 1000 years , then raised it to the sky Allah first . In the first sky , Azazil worship worship Allah for 1000 years . Then he was appointed to the second heaven . And so on until finally he was made a priest to the angels . Whatever God commands the angels are also commands for him , his deep he priest who led angel angels .
Azazil was a priest to the whole angel . Worship to God a lot . There is a history that states Azazil worship God for 80,000 years and there is no place in this world that is not used as a prostration to God .
In one story to tell , the angel Israfil will see that written in the Preserved Tablet ( holding book ) there is recorded a twist regarding :
" There is a servant of God who worship for 80,000 years but you indulge just one mistake , then it is not acceptable worship God's servant and the servant accursed so that the Day of Judgment "

All the angels wept for fear , and their fate undecided . Then all the angels came to Azazil who become priests to the angels , so Azazil will pray for the safety of the world , and hereafter to all angels . Azazil also pray for safety in the world , and hereafter to all the angels with a prayer :
" O God , thou shalt not angry with them ( the angels ) "
Unfortunately , Azazil forget to pray for her safety . After praying all the angels , Azazil continues to heaven . Above the door of heaven , Azazil see the twist which states :
" There is a servant of the servants of God that noble class , which had been commanded by God to create a task , but the servant of God to deny command . Then he belong in the class of perverse and accursed "
And God Created Adam a U.S. and ordered the angels to prostrate to Adam salute Azazil , as a priest of the angels , first duly led the angels prostrated . However , he refused , karrna he felt that he was better than Adam . While other angels continue to bow down without chaired by Azazil . Not only is he reluctant to bow down , even arrogant , and answer to God :
Behold! We said to the angels: "Bow down unto Adam": They bowed down except Iblis: He said, "Shall I bow down to one whom Thou didst create from clay?"

So Azazil deterred from heaven. It was renamed and became cursed devil. When Satan down to the earth, he promised to mislead people and their descendants.
He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!"
(Allah) said: "Go thy way; if any of them follow thee, verily Hell will be the recompense of you (all)- an ample recompense.

WHO SUBSTITUTE Azazil ?
It was narrated that the Prophet Muhammad has said that intends to :
After God finished creating Jibrail as to form beautiful , and God made him too long 600 wing , the wing between the east and west ( there are other opinions expressed 124.000 wing ) . After that Gabriel sees himself as saying :
" O my Lord , is there any creature that you create is better than me ? . " And God said intentioned .. " No" Then Gabriel as standing and praying two rak his deep gratitude to Allah . and it cycles every 20,000 years duration .
After completion Jibrail as prayer , God Almighty says that intends :
" O Gabriel , you have to worship me with worship earnest , and no one who worships me like you worship , but at the end of the world will come a prophet that I loved the most noble , the name ' Muhammad . ' He has a weak people , and always sinful , in case they were working on two Rakat prayer that is brief, and they are in a state of forgetting and straitened , their minds drift assortment , and their sin was great too . Then for the sake of My glory , and my height , it's actually their prayers I pray your liking than that. because they work at the behest of my prayers , while you do your prayers not on my command . "
Then Gabriel said :
"My Lord , what you had given to them in return for their worship ? " And God said -meaning : "O Gabriel , will I give Ma'waa heaven as a place to stay "
Then Gabriel a.s requested permission to GOD to see inside of Ma'waa heaven . Once Gabriel a.s received permission from Allah then go Gabriel a.s by developing wings , and fly . each she developed two wings he must travel a distance of 3000 years , fly angel Gabriel as long as 300 years so that he felt tired and weak , and finally he fell transit shelter under the shade of a tree and he bowed down to Allah in prostration and he said :
"My Lord if it is I travel a distance of half , or a third , or a quarter ? "
Then Allah said that intends to :
"O Gabriel , if you can fly over 3000 years , and though I give you the strength you possess such strength , then you fly like you've done , you certainly will not be up to a tenth of the tithe which I have given some to the people of Prophet Muhammad pray Allah to reward two cycles that they do. "
From Abdullah bin ' Amr ra , the Prophet Muhammad said :
Convey my Sunnah even one paragraph .
